Valeria Caboi
She is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher. She holds a degree in Theatre and Performing Arts from Sapienza University of Rome and a postgraduate degree in Advanced Dance Studies from the London Contemporary Dance School. She also studied at the Spe.Ri.Dan school in Macomer, at IALS in Rome, at MAS in Milan, and at Forum Dança in Lisbon. She participated in a Master's program in psychotherapy and dance therapy at Sapienza University of Rome. Currently, she is in the final stages of a postgraduate degree in Child Development and the Montessori Method, supervised by Lar Montessori - Ministry of Education – MEC – Brazil.
As a performer, she has collaborated with: Elisa Monte Dance Company (NY), Nine Bob Note (UK), Compagnia Fattore K di GBCorsetti (IT), Arthur Pita (UK), Guido Tuveri (NY), Companhia de dança do Norte (PT), Pia Projectos de Intervenção Artistica (PT), The Yonis (UK), Aldara Bizarro (PT), among others.
As a choreographer, she created GestAzione (Marte Live 2010 award, Rome), led the Red T-Shirt Project, with performances in England, Italy and Portugal (2012-2015). She was choreographer for the Swedish project Open Lab Halland (2015). She created the inclusive dance performance with visually impaired dancers EYE LIE (2016). She created 'a coisa mais próxima' in collaboration with Lucia Nacht between Lisbon and Buenos Aires. OULU DANCE HACK, research residency on movement and new technologies at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Finland), NULLA CONCRETO, in collaboration with sound designer Manuel Pinheiro.
As a teacher, she has 15 years of experience in public and private schools teaching creative dance, body awareness, physical theatre, contemporary dance, ballet, and hip hop. Since 2019, she has dedicated herself to the study of Montessori, currently in the final stages of a postgraduate degree in child development and Montessori. She applies this philosophy and its practices in her dance courses and workshops, creating an original way to guide children and adults on a journey based on choice and respect for the body, focusing on physical and creative development.
